Paper collage by Henri Matisse
As we're settling into our second week of school, students are busy creating a portfolio to keep here in the Art room. This portfolio is like a big folder, where they will keep their artwork in progress.
To personalize their portfolio, students spelled out their name in the style of Henri Matisse. The artist, Matisse, would create paper collages by cutting, arranging, and layering colored paper. He called this "painting with scissors." Students used only their scissors (no pencils) to cut out their designs. Check out our portfolio covers below:
